ผมใช้ Laptop เครื่องเดียว ทั้งงานและบ้าน สร้าง User Accounts แยก: Work และ Home มีสิ่งที่ปรับแต่งได้ต่างกันตาม Environment เช่น งาน: MS Office, Photoshop, Heavy Apps บ้าน: Multimedia Apps ดูหนัง/ฟังเพลง
ปัญหา: ใช้คอมพิวเตอร์เดียวทำงานต่างกัน หากอยากเล่นเกม ต้อง Config ให้ทรัพยากรสูงสุดตอนเล่นเกม แต่ Windows ไม่มี Customization ระดับ User Account
แต่ Windows มี Hardware Startup Profile Feature ที่หลายคนไม่รู้ Hardware Profile = ชุดคำสั่งบอก Computer ว่าโหลด Device ไหนภายใต้ Profile นั้น → เลือก Hardware ที่จะโหลดภายใต้แต่ละ Profile ได้
Windows เริ่มต้นด้วย Default Hardware Profile (สร้างตอนติดตั้ง Windows) สร้าง Hardware Profiles แตกต่างกันค่อนข้างยุ่งยาก (โดยเฉพาะ Windows 8) ใช้ Utility เรียบง่ายอย่าง StartupSelector สร้าง Profiles ให้ตัวเอง
StartupSelector = โปรแกรมเล็ก ทำ 2 อย่าง: Save Current Profile หรือ Load Saved Profile มีประโยชน์มากหากสร้าง Profiles: Work, Home, Gaming (แค่ตัวอย่าง สร้างได้ทุกวัตถุประสงค์)
Product Page ระบุว่า Portable แต่ผมต้อง Install จริง ทำความเข้าใจ Interface: Field "Configuration Name", Dropdown List, Close Button, OK Button ใส่ชื่อ Config ใน Field โหลด Profile บันทึกไว้ → เลือกจาก Dropdown
Close Button ควรชื่อ "Cancel" เพราะทำงานแบบ Cancel ออกจาก App ไม่ Save OK Button ควรชื่อ "Save" กด OK ทุกครั้งที่ Save/Load Profile เพื่อให้ Effect
มาสร้าง Profile จริง: General และ Gaming เริ่ม StartupSelector → กด OK (สร้าง Backup Current Profile เพื่อความปลอดภัย → Load กลับได้หากผิด)
สร้าง Gaming Profile: Run → msconfig → Services Tab → ✓ "Hide all Microsoft services" → Uncheck ทั้งหมดปลอดภัย
Startup Tab: Windows 8 → Task Manager จัดการ Startup Items → Disable ทั้งหมด (ไม่ต้อง Startup Items ตอนเล่นเกม)
2 รายการกินทรัพยากรมากที่สุด Disable แล้ว ทweak อื่นๆ: Animation, Aero Effects → คว้าหน่วยความจำได้ ~700 MB
เปิด StartupSelector อีกครั้ง → Save Profile ใหม่ชื่อ "Gaming" ตอนเล่นเกม → Load Gaming Startup Config จาก StartupSelector → Restart → ทรัพยากรพร้อมสำหรับเกม
คล้ายกัน สร้าง Startup Config สำหรับ Work, Home, Internet, Multimedia ได้
