มันแสดง Edge แตก็ให้ five different Web search suggestions ไหนก็ไม่ make sense แตถ้าคลิก อาจเปิดใน browser of choice (หรือไม่) และ shown in search engine of choice (หรือไม่) อาจ launch mega-winning combo Edge และ Bing for glory of Microsoft
ผมไม่รู้ และไม่ care
Start menu ของผมควรแสดง local content only ตาม privacy settings และ registry keys ทั้งหมดที่เน้นชัดเจน ข้อเท็จจริง Microsoft/Windows 11 อยากแสดง online stupidity คือ clear disregard ของ choices และ intelligence ของผม Don't want GTFO
Disable Search Box suggestions
Workaround คือเพิ่ม registry key อีก ต้อง run Regedit as administrator เพราะ ordinary user ไม่เขียน desired locations ได้ Basically ต้องสร้าง key (ถ้ายังไม่มี) และเพิ่ม 32-bit boolean value
เปิด regedit ไปที่ path:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\
ดูว่ามี key ชื่อ Explorer ภายใต้ path นี้ใน left pane หรือไม่ หากไม่มี right-click entry Windows เพิ่ม new key ชื่อ Explorer แล้วคลิกเข้า path นี้
ใน right pane right-click สร้าง new DWORD (32-bit) ชื่อ DisableSearchBoxSuggestions
สร้างเสร็จ double-click เปลี่ยน value จาก 0 เป็น 1
ปิด regedit และ restart computer
After the change...
ตอนนี้ search box ไม่แสดง online crap แล้ว แตมี twist สำหรับผม Windows จะ complain ว่า search indexing ไม่ทำงาน totally bogus เมื่อ check search settings ผมเห็นทุกอย่าง working correctly service running indexing running และ search return สิ่งที่ควร (plus extras แตตอนนี้ local only) ข้อความอยู่ไว้ remind ว่าผม naughty boy (อย่าง Brian in Life of Brian) experience อาจต่างไป แต่นี่คือ beauty ของ "modern" software rollercoaster of fun and not fun
Just look at those search results under Settings What
