แนวโน้มเทคโนโลยีทั่วไปคือเล็กลงเรื่อยๆ จากเดสก์ท็อปไปนาฬิกา ผู้ใช้เห็นค่าในการมี mobile computer โดยไม่ต้องพกสายและ adapter มากมาย
บทความนี้แสดงวิธีติดตั้ง Ubuntu Linux operating system (OS) ที่ทำงานเต็มรูปแบบบน mobile phone วิธีแรกต้อง root device
Root คืออะไร?
Android phones ใช้ Linux file-system ownership และ permissions Root คือ superuser
ตอน login เข้า device มีฟังก์ชันบางอย่างทำได้บนโทรศัพท์ขึ้นกับ user permissions Root user หรือ superuser มี permissions ทำอะไรกับไฟล์ไหนก็ได้ เช่น uninstall application
ก่อน grant superuser permissions ต้อง unlock bootloader และ install custom recovery
Rooting device เพิ่ม standard Linux function ที่ถูกลบไปโดยการวางไฟล์เล็ก su (switch user) พร้อม permissions ใน system
ตอนรันไฟล์โดยไม่มี parameters อื่น permissions และ credentials จะ switch จาก regular user เป็น superuser ที่มี complete control
ใช้ Apps Root Android Device
วิธีนี้ต้องติดตั้ง 3 apps จาก Google Play Store
BusyBox
BusyBox ให้โทรศัพท์เข้าถึง Linux commands ที่ปกติไม่มี จำเป็นสำหรับ enable many root apps ให้ทำงาน
Linux Deploy
Linux Deploy เป็น open-source program ใช้ติดตั้ง Linux OS บน Android mobile phone ได้ง่ายและเร็ว
ทำงานโดยสร้าง disk image บน flashcard, mount it, และ install OS distribution
เปิด app เช็คว่ามี root access (ควรมีหลังติดตั้ง BusyBox) คลิก download button ขวาบนหรือขวาล่าง
- เห็น options menu ทิ้ง settings ส่วนใหญ่เป็น default Under Properties: Linux เลือก distribution
- เปลี่ยน flavor ของ Linux โดยเลือกจาก Distribution suite
- เลือก desktop ที่อยากได้ under Desktop environment เพื่อเปลี่ยน look and feel
- Under GUI setting tick Enable ให้ device มี graphical interface เข้า GUI settings เปลี่ยน options เช่น screen resolution
- Under Properties ให้ superuser privileged access ตั้ง Username เป็น root
เปิดเมนู: คลิกสามจุดขวาบน เลือก Install คลิก OK เริ่มติดตั้งบนโทรศัพท์ กระบวนการใช้เวลานิดหน่อย เพราะติดตั้ง Linux distribution ทั้งหมดบน Android device
ติดตั้งเสร็จ คลิก START เปิด fruit (sub-compartment) แล้ว STOP ตอนจบ
VNC Viewer
App ตัวสุดท้ายคือ VNC Viewer จะเปลี่ยน Android device เป็น remote desktop ให้ view GUI
เปิด app เพิ่ม new connection ใช้ localhost:5900 สำหรับ Address คลิก Create จะเปิด window ใหม่ localhost คลิก CONNECT
ใส่ password ที่ตั้งไว้ตอนถาม Authentication คลิก Done ตอนนี้เห็น Linux และใช้งานได้
ติดตั้ง Linux OS บน Android Mobile Phone ด้วย UserLAnd
อีกวิธีติดตั้ง Linux OS บน Android mobile phone คือใช้ UserLAnd app วิธีนี้ ไม่ต้อง root device
ไป Google Play Store ดาวน์โหลดและติดตั้ง UserLAnd โปรแกรมจะติดตั้ง layer บนโทรศัพท์ ให้รัน Linux distribution ที่เลือก
Launch app เราจะเลือก Ubuntu แล้ว tap OK Grant app permissions คลิก ALLOW
ใส่ user login details ใส่ Username, Password, และ VNC Password สำหรับ Ubuntu session แล้ว tap CONTINUE > VNC > CONTINUE
UserLand จะดาวน์โหลด assets ที่จำเป็นสำหรับ Ubuntu กระบวนการแตกต่างตาม Internet speed
คุณจะใช้สำหรับ VNC และ ssh access รอ installation complete progress จะแสดง
ตอนนี้ UserLAnd ดาวน์โหลด assets ที่จำเป็นสำหรับ Ubuntu session ระยะเวลาขึ้นกับ connection speed
ติดตั้งเสร็จ จะ redirect ไป Google Play Store ดาวน์โหลด bVNC
คลิก Install แล้ว Back กลับ UserLAnd app ให้ permission bVNC เข้าถึงไฟล์ถ้าถาม แล้ว Allow
ถ้ามี option สำหรับ Ubuntu tap เพื่อเริ่ม Linux session ถ้าไม่มี คลิก Sessions ล่างหน้าจอ แล้ว tap + ขวาบน
ตั้งชื่อ session ใหม่ Ubuntu > select apps:Ubuntu for Filesystem > choose ssh for Service Type > Done
Launch Linux session: tap Sessions ล่างหน้าจอ Session ใหม่จะเปิด desktop environment
เปิด applications: tap start menu มุมซ้ายล่าง ติดตั้ง Linux programs ใหม่ผ่าน command terminal tap System Tools > LXTTerminal
ปิด desktop: tap ที่ไหนก็ได้บนหน้าจอ > three vertical dots > Disconnect
วิธีด้านบนแสดงการติดตั้ง Linux OS บนสมาร์ทโฟน Linux ยืดหยุ่นกว่า Android ให้ users ทำ functions อย่าง advanced image editing, app development, และทำงานใน real desktop environment
Downside คือทำงานบนหน้าจอเล็ก แตถ้าอยากมีความสามารถพกพา desktop ในกระเป๋า ลองดูสิ
