วิธีจัดรูปแบบฮาร์ดดิสก์ภายนอกบน OS X

Format Disk ด้วย Disk Utility

Format Disk ด้วย Disk Utility ของ Apple เป็นวิธีง่ายและ Straight-forward ที่สุดของสองวิธี เพื่อ Format Disk ด้วย Disk Utility ของ Apple เพียงทำตามขั้นตอนด้านล่าง

1. เปิด Disk Utility บน Mac คุณสามารถทำได้โดย Search จาก Spotlight หรือไปที่ "Applications → Utilities" และเปิด Disk Utility

2. Select Disk ที่ต้องการ Format จาก Left-side Pane

3. คุณจะเห็น Option "Erase" Disk ที่ Center-Top ของ Window

4. คลิกแล้ว คุณจะมี Option Rename Disk, Select Format ที่ต้องการ (รายละเอียดด้านล่าง), และ Select Disk Scheme

5. เมื่อเลือกทุกอย่างแล้ว คลิก Erase และคุณจะมี Newly Formatted Disk

Format Disk ด้วย Terminal

วิธีนี้ Aim ทู Power Users ที่ชอบใช้ Terminal ทำงานบน Mac มันยาวกว่าเล็กน้อย แตบ่อยครั้ง Useful เมื่อ Disk Utility ปฏิเสธ Perform Desired Action ด้วยเหตุผลบางอย่าง

เพื่อ Format External Disk ด้วย Terminal ทำตามขั้นตอนด้านล่าง:

1. เปิด Terminal ไม่ว่าจะ Spotlight หรือเปิด App จาก "Applications → Utilities"
2. ใส่คำสั่งต่อไปนี้ใน Terminal:

diskutil list

3. เมื่อใส่คำสั่ง คุณจะได้ List ของ Connected External Hard Disks กับ Mac

4. สิ่งที่ต้อง Note Down คือ Disk Identifier เฉพาะสำหรับ External Disk ที่จะ Format: หาได้หน้าของ Disk เฉพาะตัว เช่น Identifier สำหรับ Main External Disk คือ "disk2"

5. เมื่อมี Disk Identifier Noted แล้ว ใส่คำสั่งต่อไปนี้ใน Terminal และ Replace แต่ละ Term ดังนี้:

diskutil eraseDisk JHFS+ diskname diskidentifier

ในคำสั่งด้านบน เปลี่ยน "JHFS+" เป็น "HFS+" ถ้าอยาก Volume ที่ไม่ Journaled เปลี่ยน "diskname" เป็นชื่อใหม่ที่อยากให้ Disk และ Replace "diskidentifier" เป็น Disk Identifier จาก Disk Utility ถ้าอยาก Reformat ให้ Replace eraseDisk ด้วย reformat และลบ "JHFS+" และ "diskname" ออกจากคำสั่ง

ใช้ eraseDisk เพื่อ Erase ทั้ง External Disk หรือ eraseVolume ถ้าอยาก Erase Partition เฉพาะ ตัวอย่าง ผมใช้ "disk2s2" ถ้าอยาก Erase Untitled เท่านั้นในตัวอย่างด้านล่าง:

กด Enter เสร็จ Disk ควร Erased และ Formatted เรียบร้อย

ด้วย Disk Utility คุณมี 3 Main Formats ที่ Erase Disk ได้

MS – DOS (FAT)

MS-DOS (FAT) เป็น Format ยอดนิยมใน External Hard Disks เพราะ Readable และ Writable โดยเกือบ OS ทั้งหมด Windows และ OS X รวม หนึ่งใน Major Limitations คือ ไม่เขียนไฟล์ใหญ่กว่า 4GB ได้ ซึ่ง Setback ค่อนข้างมาก แตนอกจากนั้น นี่คือ Format ที่คุณอยากใช้ถ้าอยาก Drive Cross-compatible สำหรับ Quick Transfers หรือ Temporary Storage Drives ส่วนใหญ่ Format เป็น MS-DOS (FAT) ตรงจากกล่อง

ExFAT

ExFAT สำหรับคนที่หยาบคายกับ FAT Limits โดยเฉพาะ Large File Transfer Issue ExFAT 基本上 คือ Extension ของ FAT ที่ Allow Larger File Sizes เขียนได้ และอื่นๆ โปรดทราบ ExFAT Compatible กับ Windows Versions หลัง Vista เท่านั้น

OS X Extended

OS X Extended เป็น Native Drive Format ของ Mac Internal Macintosh Drive ของคุณก็ Format ใน Format นี้ แนะนำใช้ Format นี้เมื่อต้องใช้ External Drive กับ OS X เท่านั้น

Interesting Feature ของ OS X Extended คือ Case-sensitive คือ ถ้าคุณตั้งชื่อไฟล์ "BeachShot1" โดยเจาะจง OS X จะเห็นไฟล์นั้นต่างจากไฟล์คล้ายกันชื่อ "beachshot1"

ขณะ Format Disk เป็น OS X Extended คุณจะมี 4 Main Options:

• OS X Extended (Journaled)
• OS X Extended (Case Sensitive, Journaled)
• OS X Extended (Journaled, Encrypted)
• OS X Extended (Case Sensitive, Journaled, Encrypted)

Journaled คือ Extension Feature ของ Format ที่ Ensure Files ถูกเขียนเต็มที่ไปที่ Drive ใน Location เรียกว่า Journal ก่อน Commit เป็น Stored Data ช่วย Guarantee File Integrity หากมี Interruption อย่าง Power Loss, Drive Failure ฯลฯ

Encrypted ตามชื่อ จะทำให้ Drive และ Contents Encrypted
