Network Discovery ใน Windows 10/11: Profile ใดปิด Default?

Public Network Profile (เครือข่ายสาธารณะ) เป็น Profile ที่ ปิด Network Discovery โดย Default เพื่อความปลอดภัย

🔍 วิธีเช็คและเปลี่ยน Network Profile

Settings App (Windows 10/11)

  1. Win + I > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi (หรือ Ethernet)
  2. คลิก Properties (หรือชื่อเครือข่ายที่เชื่อมต่ออยู่)
  3. ใต้ Network profile type เลือก: Private หรือ Public

PowerShell (Admin)

Get-NetConnectionProfile
Set-NetConnectionProfile -Name "NetworkName" -NetworkCategory Private
# Category: Public, Private, DomainAuthenticated

Control Panel (Classic)

  1. Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center
  2. คลิก Change advanced sharing settings
  3. Expand Private / Guest or Public / All Networks
  4. ตั้งค่า: Turn on/off Network discovery, File and printer sharing

❓ ทำไม Network Discovery ถึงปิดเอง / ไม่เปิดอยู่?

  • Profile เป็น Public: Windows ตรวจจับเครือข่ายใหม่ → Default = Public
  • Dependency Services หยุดทำงาน: Function Discovery Provider Host, Function Discovery Resource Publication, SSDP Discovery, UPnP Device Host
  • Firewall Block: Windows Defender Firewall / Third-party FW Block Network Discovery Ports (UDP 3702, TCP 5357, Multicast)
  • Group Policy / Intune / MDM: Enforce Public Profile หรือ Disable Discovery
  • Network Location Awareness (NLA) Misidentify: ระบุ Profile ผิด (Public แทน Private)

🛠️ แก้ไข Network Discovery เปิดไม่ได้ / ปิดเอง

  1. Restart PC (แก้ Service Glitch ได้บ่อย)
  2. Set Profile = Private (วิธีข้างต้น)
  3. Start Dependency Services: services.msc → FDResPub, FDPhost, SSDP, upnphost → Startup: Automatic → Start
  4. Allow in Firewall: Windows Defender Firewall → Allow App → Network Discovery (☑ Private, ☐ Public)
  5. Run Network Troubleshooter: Settings → Network & Internet → Advanced → Network Troubleshooter
  6. Disable 3rd Party AV/FW Temporarily (Test)
  7. Update Network Adapter Driver
  8. Network Reset: Settings → Network & Internet → Advanced → Network Reset (Last Resort)

⚠️ ความปลอดภัย: ควรเปิด Network Discovery บน Public ไหม?

ไม่แนะนำ การเปิด Network Discovery บน Public Network ทำให้:

  • อุปกรณ์อื่นเห็นชื่อคอมพิวเตอร์ของคุณ
  • เพิ่ม Attack Surface (SMB, RDP, RPC, Shared Folders)
  • Risk: Lateral Movement, Credential Theft, Malware Spread

แทนที่จะเปิด Discovery: ใช้ File Sharing เฉพาะที่จำเป็น (Specific Folder, Specific User, Password Protected Sharing) หรือใช้ Cloud Storage (OneDrive, Google Drive) / Direct Transfer (Nearby Share, AirDrop, SHAREit)

💡 Best Practice

  1. บ้าน/สำนักงาน (Trusted): Set Profile = Private → Discovery ON, Sharing ON
  2. สาธารณะ (Cafe, Airport): Set Profile = Public → Discovery OFF, Sharing OFF, Firewall ON
  3. Domain Joined: Managed by GPO/Intune (Usually Private/Domain Profile)
  4. ไม่แน่ใจ: Set = Public (Safer Default)
