Motorola One Zoom ได้รับอัปเกรด Android 10: ความเป็นส่วนตัวเพิ่มขึ้น และดีไซน์ใหม่

By and large phone OS upgrades not that interesting because most time difference between what you had and what you now have isn't massive cool from user perspective workflow doesn't get ruined occasionally though changes rather big case in point going Android 9 to 10 includes new privacy controls extra personalization new looks

Even as Internet all a-chatter about Android 11 me One Zoom finally got update to version 10 well sounds like time to do some work ideally would do experiment on Moto G6 but seems ever so slightly older phone not eligible for this kind of upgrade no love there did get glimpse Android 10 in Nokia 1.3 review but now want see what happens on what I'd call main smartphone so to speak let's do it

Upgrade process

No fuss relatively simple rather fast overall took about 25 minutes have to say: ALL of my settings were correctly preserved no setting was changing to some default value there are some new settings that need changing but that's fine applications also correctly ported

New Android 10 looks similar to what shown in Nokia review more plasticky a bit more cartoonish with larger more abstract shapes not too bad but feels less precise and mature on plus side some obvious visual papercuts have been resolved

Noticed bunch recommendations various new features now have extra gestures dark mode (boring) can personalize fonts few other details nothing deem important or significant but hey mobile usage never been important or significant to me

Always declined and removed every single suggestion ever raised reduced amount of notifications phone gives so why would system still insist on presenting its features to me? Don't want whole AI thing where it guesses what one needs or does so overrated

Personalize

Here can tweak Android to look more like what you have in mind personally found no reason change defaults as they are fairly consistent and pretty not as pretty as tiles in Windows Phone but nothing will match that bigger fonts nice thing

Among different things cater to personal uniqueness get random things like Bedtime mode and Focus mode as to first can just manually turn Do Not Disturb second don't need use phone at bedtime know strange concept many people but possible finally Grayscale seems new version of night light nonsense

Focus mode again look from completely different angle want to focus ALL THE TIME have a brain want to use it if when want to relax then might allow "distracting" apps and notifications but this thing assumes level of silly interactiveness simply annoying if anything if OS can schedule time periods where apps not allowed interfere why not simply block apps that interfere to begin with or not use them at all? why allow so many notifications why use software that has no value or purpose? why not offer Distract mode instead?

Gestures

Noticed green button (pill or whatever called) next to three buttons in navigation bar supposedly introduces/allows quick access new gestures in a nutshell can configure Android navigation one two three buttons whatever all essentially unnecessary three button one works fine fastest when comes to amount of taps shakes moves whatnot obviously now though green button impairs usage back button because sits too close cannot be removed might end up touching it accidentally neverending quest reducing efficiency giving low-IQ chimps something to be happy about

New permissions model

Something quite useful more visibility into what your apps can do if only there was a toggle to disable their foreground network too well anyway Android now lets you set additional permissions and also exposes out of the box several other applications previously labeled as system

However far from perfect still example Location why so many system apps need access? why is CQATest listed and what does it do exactly? now speaking of location annoyingly cannot fully disable access to some apps/features "while in use" like Bluetooth can disable Bluetooth as remedy but why not have separate toggle for location? why does a pair of headphones paired to the phone would have anything to do with location?

Physical Activity another one why does Google Music need access? or Moto and Moto Widget? for that matter why would any of these except maybe Maps need access to anyone's physical activity? not some tinfoil hat accusation simple question trying understand why such permissions given in first place where there's no obvious use case to begin with

So guess time for a few more privacy tweaks for me then amazing how much new stuff there is always more and more things to turn off wouldn't really mind these that much if actual results got cardinally better over time but that's not the case BTW may like to know we will talk about Gboard app in separate article very soon too

Day to day usage

All good everything fine coincidentally noticed fresh improvements Firefox 79 mentioned Collections on home screen annoying well can remove those now plus can also have list of recent sites shown in addition to top sites nice solid changes good VLC continued where last paused middle of playlist middle of song jolly from this perspective 'twas seamless upgrade

Problems, glitches?

Did encounter several after upgrading to Android 10 not sure if caused by upgrade or matter of unfortunate timing application issues: application update to Google Duo stalled then sorted itself out eventually secondly after deleting bunch photos from Google Photos ended up with gray squares all over place remedy shall come form mini-tutorial soon

Network issues: both Wireless and mobile antennas seem affected phone has lower reception overall since upgrade previously in specific house locations would have full Wireless signal now only registers about 80% similarly few spots where reception drops to zero whereas before no such issues things worked fine (albeit with low signal) quite annoying but then on Moto G6 full system upgrade back in day also screwed up Wireless connectivity used to connect quickly to access points now network scan takes while to complete even for known access points so network borking seems like consistent feature

Furthermore phone also won't connect to several hotspots basically connects/disconnects right away not sure what's so special about these or why they don't seem to cooperate with One Zoom (Moto G6 has no issues) but this not new problem BUT hasn't been fixed by Android 10 upgrade

Another problem persists not fixed by new version stupid AI shot nonsense in camera application while have everything turned off in settings camera STILL insists on giving these half-cropped half-offset AI shots that are always 100% of time completely useless in every sense

Also being annoyed by stupid Gestures thing hear sound like new message but turns out not a message it's a notification about using their new whatever gestures wanted get rid of these gestures notifications forever only to discover that no nope not possible! and earlier that whole "distractions" and "focus mode" nonsense oh the irony

After about a week there was a ping and another gestures message but after dismissed it green thing disappeared so far not been annoyed again perhaps the "AI" figured since turned off gestures completely not really responding to prompts maybe best not keep suggesting stuff not interesting or maybe clicking 'Not now' three times does the magic either way OCD demons can rest BTW camera activation gesture only thing makes sense but nothing as elegant as dedicated physical camera button Lumia 950 had - still has

Get spellcheck now some people may find useful find this unnecessary

อายุการใช้งานแบตเตอรี่

Before upgrade managed about 7-9 days between charges with roughly 2-3 hours active screen time so yes mostly idle standby time but with mobile data and Wi-Fi turned on all the time if think this is nonsense try turning unnecessary features off see what you get liberal guess will double overall battery time by disabling various sensors features apps that just drain juice for no good reason

After upgrade battery life seems largely unaffected similar usage similar conditions perhaps 5% degradation can be explained by change overall signal strength especially Wireless antenna but all in all still more than excellent results talking full week with some 30% battery juice left translates about 9 days comfortable usage for me good

สรุป

Upgrade thing went well post-upgrade experience okay but a bit meh not decidedly better across the board and somewhat worse in several areas network signal drop biggest problem kind of ruins whole thing really if think about it but then in world of "modern" and "agile" breaking things most desirable outcome it seems

Overall Android 10 works fine but doesn't bring anything revolutionary to user well mobile world also approaching saturation point just like desktop did few years back things about to get boring for touch-loving people all in all I'd say One Zoom + Android 10 isn't a bad combo but it's not like I have any choice so if wondering what will happen once your upgrade happens or just curious see how other people faring my story is an answer to that question on plus side will retain largely unchanged experience settings won't be touched have a bit more control but may suffer from somewhat degraded network performance and extra gestures annoyances there bon voyage

Cheers.
