ปัญหานี้อาจเกิดขึ้นแม้ใช้ new installation หลายวันแล้ว ทุกครั้ง startup ต้องเลือก current OS name กด Enter เพื่อบูทเข้า system หากต้องการลบ entry Earlier version of Windows จาก boot menu นี่คือวิธีแก้ด้วย BCDEDIT
ลบ Earlier Version of Windows จาก Boot Menu
เปิด Command prompt ด้วย administrative privilege
หากใช้ Windows 7 ค้นหา cmd ใน Start Menu คลิกขวาผลลัพธ์ที่ถูกต้อง เลือก Run as Administrator หากใช้ Windows 10/8.1 เปิดได้โดยกด Win+X เลือก Command Prompt (Admin)
หลังเปิด command prompt ด้วย admin privilege ใส่คำสั่งต่อไปนี้และกด Enter:
bcdedit
จะช่วยรู้ operating system(s) ที่ติดตั้งและจดทะเบียนอยู่บน PC

ปิดหน้าจอ Choose an operating system บน Windows 10
BCDEdit หรือ Boot Configuration Data Editor Tool เป็น built-in tool ที่มีประโยชน์ สามารถช่วยเปลี่ยน Boot Menu Text เมื่อ dual-booting same version of Windows
จะเห็น entry ที่บอกว่า Windows Legacy OS Loader ใน description จะเห็น Earlier Version of Windows หากเห็น สามารถลบ entry นี้ได้ โดยใส่คำสั่งและกด Enter:
bcdedit /delete {ntldr} /f
ไม่ใช้เวลานาน หลังกด Enter จะได้ Success message:
การเปลี่ยนแปลงจะสะทันที
รีสตาร์ท PC ตรวจสอบว่า entry ที่ไม่จำเป็นถูกลบแล้วหรือไม่
