KMS & MAK Volume Licensing Keys
Microsoft สร้าง Key Types ต่างๆ ให้เข้ากับความต้องการองค์กร
MAK: Multiple Activation Keys
ใช้ Active จำนวนเครื่องจำกัด (Pre-configured ระหว่าง Microsoft กับ Enterprise) ทุกครั้ง Active:
- เชื่อม Microsoft Activation Service
- Verify Key + เช็ค Activation Count คงเหลือ
- ถ้าเหลือ: นับ -1 จาก Activation Count
ข้อเสีย: Reinstall/Wipe Disk Count ไม่คืน เหมาะกับ Client ที่ Reinstall นาน/ไม่บ่อย
ข้อดี: อยู่ Offline จาก Corporate Network ได้นาน (Validate ผ่าน Microsoft Servers)
KMS: Key Management Services Keys
องค์กรต้องการ: ควบคุม PC ให้กลับ Corporate Network ทุก 180 วัน และ ไม่ต้องต่อ Internet เอง ใช้ KMS
- Enterprise ได้ KMS Key ตั้ง In-house KMS Server (Microsoft Software Licensing Service)
- Server นี้อาจเป็นตัวเดียวที่ต่อ Internet
- KMS Server ดึง License จาก Client แล้ว Verify กับ Microsoft
ข้อดี: Reinstall Windows ใหม่ ใช้ Key เดียว Active ใหม่ได้ (Count ไม่ลด) แต่ Client ต้อง Sync กับ KMS Server ทุก 180 วัน ไม่งั้น Expire
KMS ใช้กับ PC ที่อยู่ใน Corporate Network ตลอด/ไม่ห่างไกลนาน
