หลายปี Microsoft บังคับ proper procedure ตอนถอด USB drives แม้ไม่ซับซ้อน แต่ไม่ได้แค่ดึง device ออกจาก USB slot โดยไม่ risk losing data แต่ตอนนี้ไม่เหมือนเดิมแล้ว
Quick Removal เป็น Default Policy ใหม่สำหรับ Devices
ปกติหา Safely Remove Hardware icon บน taskbar คลิกขวา icon เลือก hardware ที่จะถอด Windows จึง give all-clear ถอด USB device
ตอนนี้ Microsoft เปลี่ยน default removal policy สำหรับ external storage media Default เดิม Better Performance ขั้นตอนข้างต้น Default ใหม่คือ Quick Removal หมายถึงถอด devices ได้ตลอดเวลา
วิธีกลับไป Better Performance
ตาม Microsoft Support note Quick Removal หมายถึง Windows 10 "จัดการ storage operations ทำให้ device พร้อมถอดได้ตลอดเวลา" หมายถึง "ถอด device โดยไม่ใช้ Safely Remove Hardware process"
Windows 10 version 1809 ขึ้นไป เปลี่ยน policy ได้ต่อ external storage device แต่ละตัว วิธี:
- Connect device กับคอมพิวเตอร์
- คลิกขวา Start เลือก File Explorer
- ใน File Explorer หา drive letter ของ device
- คลิกขวา Start เลือก Disk Management
- คลิกขวา label ของ device แล้ว Properties
- เลือก Policies แล้วเลือก policy ที่ต้องการ
โปรดทราบ switch ไป Quick Removal หมายถึง "Windows cannot cache disk write operations" อาจ "degrade system performance" เลือกระหว่าง better performance และถอด USB devices เร็ว
