Electronic Product Code (EPC) เป็น Universal Identifier ให้ Unique Identity กับทุก Physical Object ในโลก EPC เข้ารหัสบน RFID Tags สำหรับระบุและติดตาม Inventory, Assets, People
EPC เป็นตัวเลข 96-bit ผูกกับ RFID Tag แยก Tag สอง Tag ที่เหมือนกัน ได้ รวมให้ Manufacture Date, Origin, Batch Number

วัตถุที่มี RFID Tag จัดกลุ่ม Classes แต่ละ Class มี GS1 Key เฉพาะ GS1 Key: จัดการ Key, กำหนด Data Structure, ให้ Context สำหรับ EPC Data
- GDTI – Document (เอกสาร)
- GSRN – Service Relation (บริการ)
- GTIN – Trade Item (สินค้า)
- GRAI – Returnable/Reusable Asset (ทรัพยากรคืนได้/ใช้ซ้ำ)
- GLN – Location (สถานที่)
- SSCC – Logistical Unit (หน่วยโลจิสติกส์)
- GIAI – Fixed Asset (ทรัพยากรคงที่)

รูปแบบพื้นฐาน EPC Code:
หน้าที่แต่ละ Field:
- Header (8-bit): ความยาว, ประเภท, โครงสร้าง, เวอร์ชัน, Partitioning Scheme
- EPC Manager Number (28-bit): บ่งชี้บริษัทผู้ผลิต
- Object Class (24-bit): ระบุประเภทสินค้า
- Serial Number (36-bit): Unique Number ระบุแต่ละชิ้นสินค้า
