วิธีใช้คำสั่ง MySQL CASE ใน Stored Procedure

จริงๆ แล้ว คำสั่ง CASE มีฟังก์ชันคล้ายกับคำสั่ง IF-THEN-ELSE มีรูปแบบไวยากรณ์ดังนี้

CASE WHEN condition_1 THEN
    {...statements to execute when condition_1 is TRUE...}
[ WHEN condition_2 THEN
    {...statements to execute when condition_2 is TRUE...} ]
[ WHEN condition_n THEN
    {...statements to execute when condition_n is TRUE...} ]
[ ELSE
    {...statements to execute when all conditions were FALSE...} ]
END CASE;

คำสั่ง CASE จะรัน ELSE clause หากไม่มี WHEN clause ใดถูกรัน

เพื่อสาธิตการใช้ CASE statement ภายใน MySQL stored procedure เรากำลังสร้าง stored procedure ต่อไปนี้ซึ่งอิงตามค่า ตามที่แสดงด้านล่าง ของตารางชื่อ 'student_info'

mysql> Select * from student_info;

คำสั่งต่อไปนี้จะสร้าง procedure ชื่อ 'coursedetails_CASE' ซึ่งมีคำสั่ง CASE อยู่ในนั้น
