Brave browser - A rather interesting Chromium-based option

จนถึงตอนนี้ ไม่ได้เหตุผลเจตนา ผมไม่ได้ทดสอบ Brave มาก่อน ทดสอบและรีวิว Chromium-based browsers อื่นๆ แต่มันไม่ได้ ทวันนี้ผมอยากแก้สถานการณ์ และลอง Brave ดู ตัวช่วยคือมันเป็น default browser ใน Zorin OS Linux distro ที่ผมทดสอบเมื่อเร็วๆ นี้
ระวัง Zorin team configure Brave เอง features บางอย่าง disabled by default ประสบการณ์ของคุณกับ Brave อาจต่างจากที่จะแสดง แต่ essential bits ควรเหมือนกัน รู้ว่า review จากมุมมอง staunch Firefox user โฟกัสที่ Brave อาจเป็น secondary browser ที่ solid สำหรับผม มาดู
Settings

จากสังเกต ความแตกต่างใน Chromium-based browsers ส่วนใหญ่ขึ้นอยู่กับ features ที่ exposed ผ่าน Settings และ tweak ได้ บวก extras ที่ทำให้ browser unique Chrome มี Settings page "simplest" Microsoft Edge มี stuff เยอะ บางอย่าง okay บางอย่าง really annoying That's life
ผมคิด Brave ใกล้ Edge กว่า Chrome ด้าน features และ options บางอย่าง remind Opera และ Vivaldi ที่มี tools เยอะ สำหรับหลายอย่าง ผม undecided ว่า amazing หรือ unnecessary ตัวอย่าง Wayback machine prompt บน 404 pages อาจ cool ถ้าอยากอ่าน "long gone" stuff อีกด้าน expose user กับ outdated information หรือสร้าง confusion

ส่วนดีจริงๆ Brave support extensions เยอะ รวม Manifest V2 stuff ใช้ UBlock Origin (UBO) ที่เก่ง ได้ ซึ่งไม่ทำงานใน Chrome แล้ว หรือทำงานแตไม่ supported อีกต่อไป ถ้าสนใจ filter trash ระหว่าง browse อยากได้ UBO ผมใช้ใน Firefox รวม Android จริงๆ มัน browser เพียงตัวที่ผมอยากใช้บนโทรศัพท์ เพราะเหตุผลนี้
Taking on the Brave Wide Web
All right ทดสอบเบื้องต้น ดู Brave behave ยังไง สิ่งแรกที่ขยี้แข้ง narrow address bar เหมือน Firefox ผม first order of the day ใน Mozilla browser remove padding ที่นี่ทำไม่ได้ แต่ wide address bar ทำอะไรเดียวกัน Awesome เปิด full URLs ด้วย https:// และไม่มี modern nonsense
Shields และ adblocking extensions ทำงานร่วมกัน Shields kick in first บนไซต์ของผม บล็อก cookie popup banner อัตโนมัติ ไม่แย่ แต่คาดว่าไม่ได้แค่ dismiss applet แตจัดการ potential consent ด้วย ไม่ใช่แค่ซ่อนรายละเอียดจาก user

Tab management new tab page เปิดเป็น Dashboard ได้ เหมือน modern browsers หลายตัว Panel นี้ show adblocking statistics, tabs, weather ถ้าชอบ และ background image ผมไม่ชอบ concept นี้ ชอบ new tabs blank
Integrated search default switch ระหว่าง Brave และ DuckDuckGo engines เพิ่ม engines อื่นๆ ได้ Non-Google approach ชัดเจนทั้ง Settings และ Dashboard ส่วนหนึ่งของ appeal

สำหรับผม primary browser คือ Firefox Android รวม ชอบ interface, feel และไม่ใช่ Chromium-based vital สำหรับ diversity of Web technologies นั้นว่า Brave secondary browser ที่ reasonable ในที่สุด remind Vivaldi มากกว่า Edge นั้นว่า all major browsers bloated options waaaay too many ไม่เกี่ยวกับ simple, pure browsing Browsers ไม่ต้องเป็น Web-based OS ทุก option potential vulnerability และ exploit vector lean code ดีกว่า ประหยัด resources โปรแกรมเล็กลง Win win win
Brave นำสิ่งน่าสนใจมาเยอะ ชอบ extensions, Shields, trim/tweak Internet pages ให้น้อยกว่า annoying บวก AI และ wallet สำหรับผู้สนใจ รูปลักษณ์ generic expected Dashboard unnecessary ผมไม่บอกได้ว่า Brave privacy-friendly มากแค่ไหนใน default form เพราะ Zorin build friendly มาก non-strictly-browser features off เกือบหมด Baseline ดี
Anyway Brave okay product ผม rectify many-year-long gap ใน reporting จะเลือกเป็น secondary? Perhaps ตอนนี้ไม่มี pressing need แต่ comforting ถ้าสิ่งๆ ไป south จริงๆ browser นี้อาจให้ extra defense จาก global stupidity อย่างน้อย worth testing ตัว browser ไป ผมคิดคุณจะพบมันน่าสนใจ
