Gmail, การนำ SMS 2FA option ออก และ QR code nonsense

เหมือนหลายๆ nerd วานนี้และวันนี้ ผมอ่านข่าวเยอะมาก เกี่ยวกับ Google ตั้งใจนำ SMS ออกจากตัวเลือก 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) สำหรับ Gmail accounts แบบตัวมันเองไม่ใช่ biggie อาจดี แต่ hailed replacement ในรูป QR codes เป็น development ที่น่ากลัว Utter nonsense ถ้าถามผม
ผมรู้สึก compelled เขียนบทความทันที Google ยังไม่ announce implementation อาจเป็น fancy way refer คนไป authenticator apps ซึ่งดีอีกครั้ง หรือ อาจเป็น attempt ทำให้คน subservient กับ Google ecosystem มากขึ้น ในนามความปลอดภัย หรืออะไรก็ได้ จะได้เห็น แตผมอยาก address supposed "benefits" ของ QR-related เริ่มกัน

ผมไม่คัดค้าน Google พยายามทำ logins ให้ปลอดภัยขึ้น ใช่ 2FA ด้วย OTP codes จาก offline app ดีกว่า SMS แต QR codes as security concept แย่กว่าล้านเท่า taps ให้ idiots passkeys nonsense เว้นแต่ ultra-committed geeks hardware keys makes absolute sense สำหรับ professionals และ high-profile individuals สำหรับ ordinary people SMS เป็น simple และ reliable option และยังคงเป็น Authenticator-like apps ดีสำหรับคน savvy และมีเงิน/ความรู้พอใช้ smartphone
การนำ SMS ออก ไม่ใช่แค่ technology เป็นเกี่ยวกับ society นำออก effectively remove poor และ old จาก equation นั่นคือ financial และ technological ostracism แตคนเหล่านี้ไม่ profitable อยู่แล้ว ไม่ "subscribe" services หรือดู ads ใครสนใจ right? จะได้เห็น Google ทำอะไร อาจเป็น truly sensible และ cool หรือไม่เลย เราจะได้เห็น อะไรก็ตาม ถ้าพึ่งพา QR codes มันจะ awful, horrible, stupid, pointless Bye bye now.
