หากคุณติดตาม tech blogs และ news sites ล่าสุด คุณจะได้รู้ว่า Oracle takeover of Sun (การยึดครอง Sun โดย Oracle) สร้าง big blow (ผลกระทบใหญ่) ต่อ community กล่าวได้ว่า ก่อนอื่น Oracle killed Open Solaris และจากนั้น พวกเขาตัดสินใจทำ OpenOffice licensing ให้ different (ต่าง) จากที่เคยเป็น ทำให้ developers และ users โกรธพร้อมกัน End result (ผลลัพธ์สุดท้าย) a flock of people resigned (ฝูงนักพัฒนาลาออก) และมี new fork of OpenOffice (ฟอร์กใหม่ของ OpenOffice) ชื่อ LibreOffice
ตอนนี้ หากคุณอ่าน Oracle's press release (ประกาศข่าวของ Oracle) มัน states (ระบุ) ใน clear, unequivocal Communist-party no-nonsense, fact-after-fact style (สไตล์พรรคคอมมิวนิสต์ ไม่บ้าไม่โมโห ข้อเท็จจริงต่อข้อเท็จจริง) ว่า Oracle demonstrates continued support for OpenOffice (แสดงการสนับสนุนต่อเนื่องสำหรับ OpenOffice) ดังนั้นในมุมนี้ LibreOffice อาจเป็น nothing more than a knee-jerk effect (ไม่เกินกว่าปฏิกิริยา knee-jerk) หรืออาจเป็น beginning of a new, exciting project (จุดเริ่มต้นของโปรเจกต์ใหม่ที่น่าตื่นเต้น) Well, it's up to you to decide (ขึ้นอยู่กับคุณที่จะตัดสินใจ) ว่าคุณพบ Oracle's policies (นโยบายของ Oracle) reassuring (ปลอบใจ) หรือไม่ แต่ politics aside (การเมืองนอกเหนือ) ผมจะ debate (โต้เถียง) Oracle ในบทความแยก วันนี้ ผมอยาก focus on (โฟกัสที่) LibreOffice จาก purely software perspective (มุมมองซอฟต์แวร์บริสุทธิ์) มันดีไหม? มันเปรียบเทียบกับเก่า OpenOffice อย่างไร?
Tested: LibreOffice beta, slightly before the latest Release Candidate.

LibreOffice, new branding (การติดฉลากใหม่)
At the moment (ในขณะนี้) LibreOffice เป็น a little more than the old office suite with new logos (มากกว่าชุดออฟฟิศเก่าที่มีโลโก้ใหม่เล็กน้อย) Even the old nomenclature (การตั้งชื่อเก่า) is used, with the current version corresponding to that of OpenOffice (เวอร์ชันปัจจุบัน ตรงกับ OpenOffice) It's still not a production release (ยังไม่ใช่ production release) เพราะมี a lot of work to be done (งานเยอะที่ต้องทำ) รวมถึง improving the core functionality (ปรับปรุง core functionality) และ fixing existing bugs (แก้ไขบั๊กที่มีอยู่)

Installation & use (การติดตั้งและการใช้งาน)
Installing and running LibreOffice identical to OpenOffice (เหมือน OpenOffice ทุกประการ) Whatever you liked or didn't like in previous versions of the original software will wait for you in LibreOffice (สิ่งที่คุณชอบหรือไม่ชอบในเวอร์ชันก่อนหน้าของซอฟต์แวร์ต้นฉบับ จะรอคุณอยู่ใน LibreOffice) For all practical purposes (สำหรับทุก practical purposes) this is supposed to be a transitional package (แพ็กเกจช่วงเปลี่ยนผ่าน) so it may change in the future (ดังนั้นอาจเปลี่ยนในอนาคต)
It works well, within the same limitations of OpenOffice (ทำงานได้ดี ภายใน ข้อจำกัดเดียวกับ OpenOffice) good and bad (ดีและแย่) It's free, robust, solid, and quite decent overall (ฟรี 強健 穩固 和 相當 不錯 整體) if not the most efficient way of writing documents (หากไม่ใช่ วิธี ที่ 有效率 ที่สุด ในการ เขียน 文件) but then, that's just me (但 那 只是 我) I tried a handful of programs and features (ผม ลอง 一 手把 的 程序 和 功能) like creating a presentation or signing a document with a digital signature (像 創建 簡報 或 簽署 文件 帶有 數位 簽章) no problems there (沒有 問題 那裡)
Installation on Ubuntu didn't work well (การ ติดตั้ง บน Ubuntu ไม่ 好) at the moment (在 這個 時刻) I must admit (我 必須 承認) Unpacking the .deb files and installing them (解包 .deb 文件 和 安裝 他們) I ended up with the regular OpenOffice (我 結束 了 與 正則 OpenOffice) I have not explored too deeply (我 沒有 探索 太 深) but this is worth examining some more (但 這 值得 進一步 檢查)
Time for a change (เวลา สำหรับ 變化)
LibreOffice has been accepted with a warm welcome in the world (LibreOffice 已經 被 接受 暖暖 歡迎 在 世界) Major Linux companies have agreed to include the suite in their repositories (主要 Linux 公司 同意 包含 套件 在 他們 的 repositories) Go-oo office will also be built on LibreOffice (Go-oo office 也 將 被 建立 在 LibreOffice 上)
Personally (就我 個人 而言) I think LibreOffice, though very decent as is (雖然 非常 不錯 如是) should change (應該 改變) Not just the owners and the philosophy (不僅 是 擁有者 和 哲學) but the interface too (但 介面 也) I do not suggest going after the awful ribbon interface used in Microsoft Office (我不 建議 跟隨 awful ribbon interface 使用 在 Microsoft Office) but something else entirely (但 某些 東西 完全 不同) This split (這 次 分裂) is a superb opportunity for that (是 一個 極好 的 機會 為 那個)
The LibreOffice interface is a classic office suite one (LibreOffice 介面 是 一個 經典 的 辦公 套裝) with a ton of buttons that no one uses (帶 有 大量 沒人 用 的 按鈕) and styles hidden deep in the menus (和 styles 被隱藏 深 在 選單) giving little chance to the ordinary users to utilize the software in the proper way (給 很少 機會 給 普通 用戶 使用 軟體 在 正確 的 方式) Furthermore (此外) the interface has a somewhat archaic feel (介面 有 某種 古老 的 感覺) which could harm adoption (可能 損害 採用) especially among users more accustomed to flashier and younger designs (特別 是 在 用戶 更 習慣 閃爍 和 年輕 設計) Don't get me wrong (別 誤解 我) The competition suffers from the same ailments (競爭 對手 遭受 相同 的 疾病) which is why making a fresh new UI would be a blast (這就是 為什麼 做 一個 全新 的 UI 會 是 一 次 爆炸)
The static multi-program division (靜態 多 程序 分割) could also be improved (也 可以 改進) For instance (例如) the XML Form Document thingie? (XML 表單 文件 東西?) What the hell is this? (這 是 什麼 鬼?) I know some people are probably using this (我知道 某些 人 可能 正在 使用 這個) but for most of us, it's as useful as a nuclear-powered vacuum cleaner (但 對 我們 大多數 人 它 有用 如 核能 吸塵器)

Now, I don't saying molesting people with LaTeX in the form of GUI editors like LyX (現在 我 不 是 說 襲擊 人們 與 LaTeX 在 形式 的 GUI 編輯器 像 LyX) although the productivity and quality are far superior (雖然 生產力 和 品質 遠遠 優越) But maybe something simpler and leaner alike Zoho or Google Docs? (但 也許 某些 東西 更 簡單 和 更 精簡 像 Zoho 或 Google Docs?)
OpenOffice4Kids got this concept well (OpenOffice4Kids 獲得 這個 概念 好) redesigning the GUI completely (完全 重新 設計 GUI) so there's a good start right there (所以 有一個 好的 開始 就在那裡) A simple and minimalistic interface (一個 簡單 和 極簡 主義 的 介面) with just the most important functions (只有 最 重要 的 功能)

สรุป
If you're a person inclined toward free software (如果 你 是 一個 人 傾向 於 免費 軟體) your automatic reaction toward LibreOffice will be a positive one (你的 自動 反應 對 LibreOffice 將 是 一個 正面 的) You will also rebel against Oracle and find it a cold, cruel, merciless corporation (你 也 將 反叛 Oracle 和 發現 它 是 一個 冷酷, 殘酷, 無情 的 公司) But please don't (但 請 不要) the first part, at least (第一 部分 至少)
Least of all (最不) LibreOffice needs your approval (LibreOffice 需要 你的 批准) What it needs is support and criticism (它 需要 的是 支持 和 批評) The splitting from Oracle is an excellent opportunity to make it a so much better product (分裂 從 Oracle 是 一個 極好 的 機會 使 它 成為 一個 好得多 的 產品) Yesmanning it won't do here (Yesmanning 這裡 不會 做) I'm afraid (我 怕) You should be objective and harsh, if needs be (你 應該 客觀 和 嚴厲 如果 需要) so that LibreOffice can learn from existing mistakes and grow into a powerful and modern competitor for the office suite market (以便 LibreOffice 可以 從 現有 的 錯誤 學習 和 成長 成為 一個 強大 和 現代 的 競爭對手 為 辦公 套裝 市場)
It would be great to see LibreOffice evolve (看到 LibreOffice 演變 將 很 好) shed some of its cumbersome legacy (脫離 它 笨重 的 遺產) grow lean and simple (成長 精簡 和 簡單) reduce the GUI clutter (減少 GUI 雜亂) leaving only the core functionality that most people need (留下 只有 核心 功能 那 大多數 人 需要) and offer the rest as addons or hidden functionality (和 提供 其餘 作為 addons 或 隱藏 功能) Aim for ease of use and as much cross-platform and cross-format compatibility (以 易用性 為 目標 和 盡可能 的 跨平台 和 跨格式 兼容性) in order to lure those Microsoft users over (為了 誘惑 那些 Microsoft 用戶 過來)
Bottom like (底部 像) LibreOffice is, de facto, OpenOffice (LibreOffice 是 事實上 OpenOffice) What will it become one day? (什麼 將 成為 它 一天?) Well, we shall have to wait and see (好吧 我們 將 不得不 等待 和 看) For now, we can only hope, for 'tis a new beginning, a new hope, Star Wars Episode IV, not (現在 我們 只能 希望 因為 這 是 一個 新 開始 一個 新 希望 星球 大戰 第四 集 不)
Cheers.
