Windows could not complete the installation [Fixed]

เมื่อเจอปัญหานี้ จะได้ข้อความเต็ม:

Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation.

ปัญหานี้อาจเกิดเมื่อการติดตั้ง Windows ใหม่ถูกขัดจังหวะก่อนสร้าง user account หรือเมื่ออัปเกรดจาก Windows 7/8.1/10 เป็น 10/11 หรืออัปเกรด Windows 11/10 เป็น build ใหม่ บางกรณีเกิดตอน reset Windows 11/10 ตามรายงานผู้ใช้

แต่ข้อผิดพลาดนี้ในตัวหมายถึงคุณใช้ Audit Mode ในการติดตั้ง Windows ซึ่งเป็นสาเหตุหลัก ตอน Windows boot ครั้งแรก จะ boot ไป OOBE หรือ Audit Mode

Windows could not complete the installation

ลองวิธีแก้ไขด้านล่างไม่จำเป็นเรียงลำดับ:

1. Run Automatic Startup Repair
2. Enable Administrator Account
3. Start Account Creation Wizard
4. Change Password Requirements
5. Modify some registry key values
6. Disable Audit Mode

มาดูรายละเอียดแต่ละวิธี

1] Run Automatic Startup Repair

เนื่องจากได้ error Windows could not complete the installation หลัง/ระหว่าง update/upgrade Windows 10 ให้ลองรัน Automatic Startup Repair ดู

2] Enable Administrator Account

ทำดังนี้:

• บนหน้าจอ error กด Shift + F10 เปิด Command Prompt
• พิมพ์ mmc กด Enter
• ในหน้าต่างที่เปิด คลิก File > Add/Remove Snap-in
• เลือก Computer Management คลิกสองครั้ง
• ในหน้าต่างใหม่ เลือก Local computer
• คลิก Finish
• คลิก OK
• คลิกสองครั้ง Computer Management (Local) > System Tools > Local Users and Groups > Users > Administrator
• ติ๊กถูกออกจาก Account is disabled
• คลิก OK
• คลิกขวา Administrator เลือก Set Password ตั้ง password แข็งแกร่ง

ออกจาก MMC console และ restart คอมพิวเตอร์ ดูว่าแก้ไขได้หรือไม่ หายัง ลองวิธีถัดไป

3] Start Account Creation Wizard

ทำดังนี้:

• เปิด Command Prompt บนหน้าจอ error โดยกด Shift + F10
• พิมพ์ directory path นี้ กด Enter:

cd C:\windows\system32\oobe

• พิมพ์ msoobe กด Enter

ข้างต้นจะเริ่ม user account creation wizard สร้าง generic account และ password อาจต้อง Product Key

• เสร็จแล้ว กด Finish ออกจากทุกอย่าง restart PC

ตอนบูท เช็คว่า Windows could not complete the installation แก้ไขได้หรือไม่ หายัง ทำต่อ

4] Change Password Requirements

หากอยู่ใน Audit Mode และคอมพิวเตอร์เพิ่ง join domain จะได้ error Windows could not complete the installation สาเหตุมาจาก password requirements ใน local security policy รวมถึง minimum password length และ complexity

เพื่อเปลี่ยน password requirements:

• บนหน้าจอ error กด Shift + F10 เปิด Command Prompt
• พิมพ์ secpol.msc กด Enter
• ไป Account Policies > Password Policy
• เปลี่ยน Minimum password length เป็น 0 และปิด Password must meet complexity requirements
• Apply changes ออกจาก Security Policy console
• คลิก OK บน error message เพื่อ reboot PC

หายังคงอยู่ ลองวิธีถัดไป

5] Modify some registry key values

ทำดังนี้:

• บนหน้าจอ error กด Shift + F10 เปิด Command Prompt
• พิมพ์ regedit กด Enter

ใน Registry Editor ไปที่ registry key path ด้านล่าง และด้านขวา คลิกสองครั้ง registry keys ต่อไปนี้ทีละตัว แล้วแก้ไข Value data:

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\Status

Audit: 0

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\Status\ChildCompletion

setup.exe: 3

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\Status\ChildCompletion

audit.exe: 0

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\Status\SysprepStatus

CleanupState: 2

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\Status\SysprepStatus

GeneralizationState: 7

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\Status\UnattendPasses

auditSystem: 0

เสร็จแล้ว reboot PC Audit Mode จะถูกปิด และ Windows 10 จะเริ่มปกติ boot เข้า Out of Box Experience mode

6] Disable Audit Mode

ทำดังนี้:

• บนหน้าจอ error กด Shift + F10 เปิด Command Prompt
• พิมพ์คำสั่งด้านล่าง กด Enter:

sysprep /oobe /generalize

จะปิด Audit Mode

• ออกจาก CMD prompt และ reboot PC ปกติ

ปัญหา Windows could not complete the installation ควรแก้ไขได้ แต่หายังเจอ ให้เปิด CMD อีกครั้ง และทำ:

• พิมพ์ regedit กด Enter
• ไปที่ registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\State

• ที่นั่น panel ขวา คลิกขวา entry ImageState เลือก Delete
• ออกจาก CMD prompt และ restart PC
