ผู้ใช้บางคนพบว่า Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) ไม่ทำงาน แม้ตั้งค่า Auto Start ใน Event Viewer พบข้อความ "The VSS service is shutting down due to idle timeout" พบใน Windows 7, 8.1, 10
สาเหตุของ VSS Idle Timeout Error
- VSS Service ตั้งค่าเป็น Manual - ไม่ได้ตั้ง Auto ทำให้ Process อื่นเรียกไม่ได้ แก้ได้โดยตั้งเป็น Automatic
- System File Corruption - ไฟล์ระบบ/Dependency ของ VSS เสียหาย แก้ได้ด้วย DISM/SFC หรือ System Restore
วิธีที่ 1: ตั้ง VSS Service เป็น Automatic
- Win + R → services.msc Enter
- หา Volume Shadow Copy → คลิกขวา → Properties
- แท็บ General → Startup type = Automatic → Apply
- รีสตาร์ท → ตรวจสอบ Event Viewer
วิธีที่ 2: ซ่อมแซม System File Corruption (DISM + SFC)
รันทั้งคู่เพื่อครอบคลุมทุกกรณี
- Win + R → cmd → Ctrl+Shift+Enter (Admin) → Yes
- รัน DISM:
Dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth Dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
(ต้องอินเทอร์เน็ต ถ้า Scanhealth ไม่เจอปัญหา ข้าม Restorehealth ได้) - รีสตาร์ท → เช็ค Event Viewer
- ถ้ายังมี เปิด CMD Admin อีกครั้ง รัน SFC:
sfc /scannow
ห้ามปิด/รีสตาร์ทระหว่างรัน - รีสตาร์ท → ตรวจสอบอีกครั้ง
วิธีที่ 3: ใช้ System Restore (ถ้าวิธีข้างต้นไม่ได้)
หาก Corruption รุนแรง ใช้ System Restore กลับไปยัง Restore Point ก่อนปัญหาเกิด
- Win + R → rstrui Enter
- Next → ทิ๊ก Show more restore points → เลือกวันที่ก่อนปัญหา → Next → Finish
- คอมพิวเตอร์จะ Restart และ Restore สถานะเก่า โปรแกรม/การตั้งค่าหลัง Restore Point จะหายไป
- เช็ค Event Viewer ว่า VSS Error หายหรือยัง
